Avery is a passionate animal rights activist who is committed to dedicating her work to the animal liberation movement. Through this program, she wants to develop her knowledge and gain a deeper understanding of how animals are legally recognized under the law in order to expand her commitment to protecting animals. In 2020, she graduated with an Ecology and Evolutionary Biology degree from the University of California, Santa Cruz, which led her to work at a laboratory that tested on animals. As a result, she decided to change her career path in order to focus on advocating for oppressed animals instead of taking part in unnecessary and abusive animal testing. Avery is currently an organizer for an animal rights direct action nonprofit and has worked as a grassroots protests coordinator at PETA in their International Grassroots Campaigns department, where she organized protests around the United States for multiple different campaigns.
