Anthony Irsuto

United States
Online LLM Candidate ’26

In 2018, Anthony earned his bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University, followed by his Juris Doctor from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law (formerly known as John Marshall Law School) in May 2021. Later that year, in November 2021, Anthony joined the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office as a prosecutor. Currently, Anthony is assigned to the Felony Trial Division and the Animal Protection Unit.

Anthony’s work has spanned cases involving a wide variety of animals, including horses, sheep, cardinals, chickens, canaries, lizards, cats, deer, raccoons, ball pythons, ducks, snapping turtles, and geese. As of October 2023, he had prosecuted nearly 100 animal-related cases.

Anthony has attended several national conferences, including the ALDF’s National Animal Cruelty Prosecution Conferences in Milwaukee, WI (2023) and Richmond, VA (2024), as well as the Animal Law Conference in October 2025. In May 2025, he also completed the Animal Cruelty/Domestic Violence Trial Advocacy Program in Tulsa, OK.

In a landmark achievement, Anthony successfully obtained the first lifetime ban on animal ownership ever issued in DuPage County, Illinois. He also played a role in launching the county’s first dedicated Animal Protection Unit.

Beyond litigation, Anthony is actively involved in legal education and training. He assists in training law enforcement officials on animal forfeiture petitions and animal cruelty investigations. He has also presented animal related continuing legal education (CLE) programs, including “Fur-Ever Protected: Ensuring Your Pets’ Future Through Legal Planning” in January 2025.

Anthony then went on to attend the Animal Law LLM program at Lewis & Clark, graduating summa cum laude in January 2026.

Anthony currently serves as Chairman of the Animal Law Section of the DuPage County Bar Association and as Social Media Director for the Illinois Prosecutors Bar Association. Through education, advocacy, and courtroom litigation, Anthony remains committed to being a voice for the voiceless—protecting the rights and welfare of animals across his community.
