Elyse Mount

United States
Online LLM Candidate ’28

Elyse M. Mount is a practicing attorney in the United States Air Force. She completed her undergraduate degree at Purdue University, Indiana, majoring in Law & Society and Russian. After graduating law school at Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law, she began active duty service for the United States Air Force, practicing criminal law, international law, and civil law.

Elyse has spent the past five years practicing law for the United States Air Force across the world. She has actively played a role in world-wide military exercises out of Germany, the United Kingdom, and the Republic of Korea. Her first military assignment was in Italy, where she lived and worked for three years gaining invaluable experience in a vast array of topics, such as federal prosecution, international agreements, landlord/tenant, education law, etc.

Always an advocate for rescue and animal rights, Elyse rescued her dog Evee in 2018. Evee was extremely malnourished and had little-to-no fur when she was rescued by Animal Rescue Korea (ARK) from a shelter in the Republic of Korea at just six months old. Evee inspired Elyse to study South Korea’s Animal Protection Act and its enforcement during COVID-19. She also studied international rescue and the struggles facing animal transportation during COVID-19.

Elyse is excited to learn the different career fields within Animal Law and begin her next steps into animal advocacy with Lewis and Clark. After her Air Force career, Elyse hopes to transition into animal law and the LLM program provides the perfect foundation for that transition.
