Ankur Arora is an Advocate from India, enrolled with the Bar Council of Delhi, and completed his LL.B. from the Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, in 2026.
Ankur’s contribution towards animal rights advocacy began well before his journey into the law profession. Almost seven years ago Ankur transitioned to a vegan lifestyle and founded a community in his hometown, “Vegans of Gorakhpur & Deoria”, where he raised awareness about practices affecting farmed animals and encouraged plant-based living through documentary screenings and outreach activities which also gained media attention from newspapers and radio stations.
Ankur had the desire to use his passion towards bringing institutional and strategic changes. Instantaneously after joining his law school in the University of Delhi, Ankur explored the intersection of art and advocacy by creating and exhibiting a self-designed portrait at his college, serving as a powerful catalyst for conversation and reflection on activism. He subsequently re-established and developed the Animal Law Cell at the Faculty of Law, which has since evolved into a structured initiative through his sustained efforts and engagement. During the past three years, Ankur has led several initiatives to bring awareness about animal rights and animal ethics. Ankur has also intervened before Hon’ble Supreme Court of India and the Delhi High Court for the implementation of Animal Birth Control Rules and Pet Shop Rules.
Ankur recently collaborated in the development of a course on Indian Animal Welfare Laws as part of a free education initiative of the Ministry of Education. Throughout law school, he has gained diverse professional experience through international moot court competitions and internships with leading law firms and judges.
Through the LLM in Animal Law at Lewis & Clark, Ankur aims to deepen his understanding of animal law and gain a global perspective on animal protection to be able to make meaningful and strategic changes in the society for animals.
