Online MSL Candidate ’27

Miina De Lara is a poly-hyphenate with diverse experience across industries. She grew up on a hobby farm and has extensive experience in agriculture, including managing her own small-scale pig breeding operation, milking cows at a local dairy farm, cleaning stalls at a show horse barn, leading salmon fillet production in Alaska’s inner channel, and working as a veterinary assistant and bovine embryo transfer technician.

Early in her career, she served two terms as a Precinct Committee Officer, gaining experience in public service and grassroots politics. Miina served for several years as volunteer Communications Specialist and Communications Director for Beyond Vision Foundation where she created promotional materials and managed communication strategies to support organizational goals. In her family-owned roofing business, she oversaw operations and built robust systems to support continued growth.

Miina holds a Master of English degree from Eastern Washington University where she received a Graduate Student Appointment and the Colton-Huston Scholarship. Her thesis, A Winter of Animal Suffering: Sacrificial Logic, the Discourse of Animality, and Sensory Rhetoric in Richard Adams’s Watership Down, was recommended for publication by her thesis committee.

Miina is eager to continue the studies of animal law that informed her thesis and she is looking forward to this next phase in her career as she realigns with her passion for building local and humane agricultural networks and advancing animal welfare.
